But which county in Alabama has the most Dollar General stores? It depends how you look at it.
In terms of the number of locations, Mobile County, home to 414,809 people, leads with 70 stores.
But when accounting for population, Perry County, home to 8,513 people in the Black Belt, tops the list. In rural Perry County, there’s a Dollar General for every 2,128 people.
And when accounting for geography, Jefferson County, the largest county in Alabama and home to 674,340 people, leads the way. Jefferson County, home of Birmingham, has a Dollar General for every 17 square miles.
