Certain drivers will be banned from certain routes or forced to pay hefty fees under new Clean Air Zone updates coming into effect this weekend.
The new zones will be introduced in four areas of Scotland with sizeable financial punishments for those who break the rules.
Alongside the extra fees, motorists living in one region in the UK will be hit with increased parking charges.
And finally, councils will get their say over changes to e-scooter trials as the new technology continues to be rolled out across the UK.

Low Emissions Zones - June 1
Certain petrol and diesel owners will be banned from driving on some roads in Scotland from today as the new Low Emissions Zone (LEZ) comes into effect.
The new scheme has been introduced across four cities in Scotland with programmes in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen all coming on board from June 1.
Dundee began charging drivers on May 30, 2024 but most motorists will feel the effect of the changes in June.LEZs set an emissions limit for certain road spaces with those not meeting the rules unable to drive within the zone.
The minimum standards for LEZ’s in Scotland are Euro 4 emissions petrol cars, models generally proceed after 2006.However, only Euro 6 diesel vehicles will be allied in the area meaning cars built before 2015 are unlikely to be eligible.

Motorists who break the rules and drive in the LEZ without the right standards in place will be hit with penalties.Fines of £60 will be issued with a subsequent doubling for each time the rule is broken.
However, the charge will be reduced by 50 percent if it is paid within 14 days and penalties are rest to £60 if the rules are not broken again for a period of 90 days.Edinburgh has had the LEZ in place for two years but will only start charging drivers from June 1.
Cammy Day, Edinburgh council leader defended the move as he suggested there had been enough time for motorists to be made aware of the update.
He explained: “We’ve been planning this for two years, we’ve been promoting this to businesses and commuters for the last two years."

E-Scooter trials - June 1
Local authorities can make changes to how they run e-scooter trials from June as part of major rules tweaks from the Department for Transport.
It gives local councils the chance to make updates to existing vehicle special orders (VSO’s) with approved changes coming into effect from the start of June.
The DfT explained: “It has been 4 years since e-scooter trials launched and DfT recognises that circ*mstances may have changed, such that local authorities may want to change how they are running their trials.
“DfT is, therefore, offering local authorities the opportunity to request changes to the geography and/or fleet size for their e-scooter trials, with a focus on new strategic local objectives.”

Parking costs - June 3
Rutland County Council will increase parking fees from the start of June with drivers forced to pay more.
The price of a one-hour ticket in Council-owned car parks will rise from £1.10 to £1.20 from June 3.
Meanwhile, the price of a day ticket will increase from £5.30 to £5.80 with yearly season tickets up from £608.30 to £668.
However, the council will continue to offer 30 minutes of free parking in all public bays.
